Daily Changes to Keep your Skin Healthy
- Drink Water
It’s happened to all of us- it’s noon and we haven’t yet had a glass of water. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends that men drink at least 101 ounces of water. Water is useful in many ways to keep our bodies working the way they should. A small tweak, goes a long way. Drinking the daily requirement of water not only helps all the organs function on our bodies, it keeps the skin hydrated while flushing out toxins. Change it up, by infusing your water with a slice of lemon or a cucumber and limes. Get an app to track your daily intake until it becomes a habit.
- Sleep
Stop the Netflix binge! The late nights lead to dull and tired skin. Aim to get 8 hours or more of sleep every night to keep your skin looking happy and healthy. Collagen production happens overnight, with the growth hormone kicking in late night. Getting a good night’s rest not only helps with the skin, but will keep your eye bags at a minimum, maintaining elasticity and brighter skin.
- Eat good food, keep the gut happy
Load up on the antioxidants and keep making healthy good choices. Adding fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats to your diet will help support a healthy gut and a healthy face. Focus on foods that are high in antioxidants, including berries and dark chocolate for a treat.
- Good skincare regime
A good facewash, moisturizer, and SPF will go a long way. Finding products that work for your skin and meet the basic essentials of a routine. Anything else, is an added bonus. Experiment with an eye cream, a night mask, or serums. Even just sticking to the basics- washing your face, moisturizing, and adding sun protection to keep visible signs of aging. This will help keep your skin looking youthful well into your next decade.
